Comments on three of my colleagues' websites

When I was doing my website pages design, I referenced my colleagues' websites. They all did a good job. But I have to choose three colleagues' websites to comment on. I will talk about what their best features are, what interests me the most, and anything I think they are worthwhile visiting and mentioning. 

Alyssa Sebastiao Mendes :  I really like the images in her homepage. I also like the sentence "life is a song. Love is the music. The design is very creative. In her resource page, she classified the assignments links and extra links. In her literacy page, the gif image is so fabulous！ She used lots of different color and typeface in her websites which  very interested me. I really curious about it.  She also inserted our group project PPT in her website. Thanks for her hard work.
Ji Hoo Moon : The image in her homepage is her name, it is SO awesome！ I really want to know how she did it！And in her movie page, the video is about Korea which is so cool! The video presents Korea food, art, national sports and popular music. I believe that it must will appear lots of people come to Korea through this video.
Hillary Pond : Hillary's website is concisely clear. I can easily select what I am interested in. But the most impressed me is her music page. I like it so much ~ and the video is so cute. Like Hillary wrote, my mood do feel much better. I even could't help myself smiling.

I found this video on YouTube. The background movie of this piece is very similar what we had learned the iMovie in the class.  At the same time, I love this piece so much! I think the background and the music are very match each other. It is so fantastic! 

The Final Presentation

Today we did the final presentation with my classmates. Before we did the presentation, Professor Yen prepared a big dinner for us. We had Sushi, Sandwich and Salad.  Even though it was the final presentation, we didn't feel nervous at all. We was eating and watching other group's presentation. I learned a lot and had a very nice time in the whole semester. Thank you Professor Yen! Thanks all my dear classmates!

 Evaluation and critique to the New NYU Classes

 This is my first year to come to America. I graduated from China Conservatory; it has classes on the website either. But comparing  NYU Classes,  I think the function of  NYU Classes is much stronger.   For students, before we select courses, we can search specifically information on the website such as requirements, textbooks and professors.

 For teachers and students, both of us can upload and download materials on the classes, and look for them anytime we want.

If we forget something, we just need to click my classes and select the name of classes. All the information is in there. 

It is quite convenient for both students and teachers to share documents for each other. I think the design of NYU classes is very cool.

I found an interesting video today, which Robert Tiso played Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor on the glasses. Very often, people regards the glass as a tool of drinking. No one believes that the glass can be a solo instrument. But in this video, we can see that a fabulous instrument can also made of glasses. The sound is so nice.  We call it glass harp. It not only can play a solo music but also can play such a complex music. That's awesome!

I usually use Wechat, QQ, Weibo in China. When I came to US, I keep using them. But I found that Facebook and Skype are very popular in US.

I use Wechat a lot. In Chinese，we call it weixin. It is an app in cellphone. I can send voice messages, pictures and text free, easy and fun.

QQ is the earliest SNS what I am using. The function of QQ is extremely strong. I can chat with my friends by text, voice and video. Also, I can share documents with my friends. If I have any trouble with my computer, I can send a remote assistance invitation to my friend online for help. I think it is the most convenient SNS tool.  

I found that Sina Weibo and Facebook are almost the same. Both of them are used to share some good websites or post status on the website. Even though they can chat friends with text message, both of them can not chat with voice message. 

Thus, there are most of people use Skype or Facetime in US. Because it can call and chat with video with each there. Both of Skpye and Facetime can be used on computer and cellphone. They can convenient though. 

Comparing Browsers

Firefox & Opera & IE & Chrome

I have heard of Firefox for a long time but never use it.Firefox has many powerful functions. The extensibility is very strong, and it contains a great many of plug-ins.It is quite convenient to watch web page source code and it also watch them selected. besides,its editor could highlight syntax .There are many advantages about Firefox especially on browsing.its text style is very beautiful and its fonts can be bold appropriate, which is unique ,because other browsers cannot do these. As well as ,the explanation  on css and web layout is correct .Basically css code could achieve the effect we expected.Of course, it also has a few disadvantages. Firstly, it is unable conduct online  banking operation.secondly,some functions are showy and not substantial,especially picture collection. Thirdly, when I drag a key word and want to pop up a new window to search, however, Firefox appear  a Firefox magical mirror function which show some searching content like wiki,baike ,shopping and so on in a small window.On the whole,comparing with other browses ,Firefox is better,which I still use it.

I usually use the Opera browse on my cellphone so I know it is not bad and offer many creative functions like notebook. We can copy text content on web to temporary notebook. But the fatal flow is  that the explanation and analysis ability is not strong enough. If we don't control the application of css  strictly ,it always shows unfriendly interfaces, which is the most serious problem. In addition, Firefox and it like full brothers and we do not know which one is imitated. Since Chrome came out ,the design that the headline of the web page is put on the top of the title bar always is imitated and now almost all the browses put the web page headline on the top.

IE browser, due to the binding of the windows, there are a lot of people using it. Because it’s not convenient enough to use it, appearing a large number of third-party browsers. IE uses the kernel to analyze web pages. The analytical capability of IE is really weak, and different from other browsers. So when we design websites, we have to design one especially for IE. But IE is important, because of that only IE can perfectly support online banking and some other operations. Also, it has a very large amount of users, so we have to pay attention to it.

The function of Chrome is simple.  However, simplicity is the purpose what it is pursuing. Indeed, for most of users, the most important thing for them is to browse the web. For them, it is not necessary to use a browser which has too many functions. So, Google browser concentrates all the things in its long address bar on the top. The Chrome also has pros and cons.  The pro is that it is more convenient for people to use it by enter the URL directly in the browser, or a keyword to search. The con is that it cannot support to design a more personal style.
